Transferring money between accounts

Your funds will be available immediately if transferring funds from another account you have with us via mobile, internet or telephone banking or by paying in cash over the counter in branch. If you are transferring funds from another financial institution, please allow enough time for the funds to be processed into your account, prior to 3pm.

Regular payments

If making a future dated payment which falls on a non-business day i.e. weekend or bank holiday, please be aware that the payment will be processed on the next business day. It is important that you check correct destination details for any payment to make sure the funds are paid in to the correct account, as it may not be possible to recover the funds from the unintended recipient.

Unplanned borrowing fees can be expensive

It is best to avoid them whenever possible. You will be charged if you ask us to make a payment via standing order, Direct Debit, cheque or future dated payments (including funds transfers and bill payments through internet banking), and you do not have sufficient funds in your account on the date on which the payment is due to be made or that the payment is covered by an overdraft facility you have with us.

You have until 3pm on the day a payment is due to pay in enough cleared funds to meet that payment. However, where future dated bill payments and funds transfers have been set up by telephone banking, you must have cleared funds available to meet those payments by 5am on the day they are due to be paid.
