Current Account Plus

A current account that gives you straightforward banking with an overdraft option

Current Account Plus is one of Yorkshire Bank's standard current accounts which comes with a number of benefits, including an overdraft facility (subject to status, applicants must be 18 years and over). With this everyday account, you also get access to Savings Account Plus – a 24-hour* telephone and internet banking savings account. It lets you earn interest on your savings and you can transfer funds from one account to another quickly. Please note that access to this account is only by internet and/or telephone banking. You're unable to deposit or withdraw money from your Savings Account Plus in any branch. Current Account Plus is subject to status and available to those aged 16 or over.

With no arrangement fee (all overdrafts are subject to status and applicants must be aged 18 or over).

Withdraw up to £500 cash a day

If you hold a debit MasterCard, 24 hours a day 365 days of the year at any Yorkshire Bank ATM or UK ATM. If your Yorkshire Bank debit card is contactless, you can use it to pay for items up to £30** without having to enter your PIN. Withdrawal limits subject to status and available funds.

You can cancel your agreement with us within 14 days of opening your account by contacting us in branch, by phone or in writing. Please check terms and conditions for more information.

**From 1st September 2015 the limit increased from £20 to £30. However, it may take some time for the limit increase to be available at every point of sale.

* We aim to give online decisions for applications submitted between 8am to 10pm, Monday - Saturday and 8am to 9pm on Sundays. If we are unable to provide an instant decision or your application is submitted outside these times, we will aim to inform you within one working day.

  • Income details - your Gross Annual and Net Monthly salaries
  • Details of your expenditure – e.g. Mortgage/Rent, loan payments
  • Your current bank details (if you are planning to Switch)

  • As the Main Applicant, you are selecting the type of account you wish to apply for on behalf of both parties

  • Don’t worry if the other applicant isn’t with you, you can carry on with your application and we will send you a link to share with them and they can complete their application at a time that suits them
  • If you’re not eligible for this account, we’ll let you know at the end of the application and may offer you our Readycash basic bank account instead (if appropriate)
  • Either party can authorise payments and both parties are liable for all debts on the account and not just a share. Only one copy of the monthly statement will be issued to one mailing address.

Protecting your money

Your eligible deposits with Clydesdale Bank PLC are protected up to a total of £75,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme.

This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with the following: Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank. Any total deposits you hold above the limit between these brands are unlikely to be covered.
