Child Trust Fund
Give your child's savings a head start
- Friends and family can add to your child's account
- A tax-efficient investment for your child's Child Trust Fund voucher
- Invest up to £1,200 each year
- Manage your child's account online
To encourage saving for our little ones, every eligible child born between 1st September 2002 and 2nd January 2011 is entitled to a voucher from the government to invest in a Child Trust Fund (CTF) account.
Yorkshire Bank's CTF is provided by Family Investments, the UK's favourite provider, who look after the CTF accounts of over 1.1 million children.
The Family Investments CTF is a stakeholder account. The account is invested in stocks and shares, which means that it has good potential to grow. From age 13, your child's money will be gradually shifted away from shares to lower risk investments like cash and fixed interest, which helps protect the value in later years. However, please bear in mind that as with all investments in the stock market, the value of the account can fall as well as rise and your child could get back less than has been invested.
The account belongs to your child - only they can access the money and only when they turn 18, so it's a great way to start saving for their future. Friends and family members can contribute up to £1,200 a year and any returns on a CTF are currently free from Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax, although tax advantages depend on individual circumstances and may change in the future.
