What's the difference between a Bill Payment and a Funds Transfer?

Bill Payments are used to pay registered billers (for example, Scottish Gas and other utility providers). When you enter the sort code and account number of a biller, these details are checked against a database of official billers (as used by many UK banks). If the account details are not listed in this database (or the reference is invalid), you cannot make the payment via Bill Payments. Instead use the Funds Transfer function.

The reason for this is that when you successfully make a bill payment, we know the beneficiary is a trusted biller and therefore it is unlikely to be a fraudulent transaction. As a result, transactions made using Bill Payments are not included in your daily transaction limit.

If you make a payment via the Funds Transfer section, it will be included in your daily transaction limit total (unless you're transferring to a linked account, in which case you're only limited by the available balance).

How do I make same-day transfers?

Transfers between any Yorkshire Bank accounts are made on the same day provided you leave the Reference field blank. If you do include a reference, the transfer will reach the recipient's account on the third business day after you instructed the transfer.

How do I view my full transaction history?

To view more than the default period of transactions on any of your accounts, simply click on the ‘show’ filter located above your current balance and select the period or number of days you'd like to view (to a maximum of 100 days).
