Taking care of your basic banking needs

Readycash is our Basic Bank Account which lets you pay for goods and services at retailers with your debit card, and access your cash and account details through our vast network of ATMs, at any Yorkshire Bank branch or at Post Office counters.

You will also be able to manage your account easily with monthly statements, free text alerts, and online and telephone banking.

This account is only available to customers who do not qualify for one of our other current accounts or who are experiencing financial difficulties.

There are no costs to run this account. Overdrafts are not permitted and requests for unplanned borrowing will usually be declined. Account subject to status, applicants must be 16 or over to apply.

Debit Card

Lets you pay for goods and services in person, by phone, online and abroad (subject to available funds).

24 hour service*

Telephone banking, mobile, internet banking.

* 24 hour telephone banking and internet banking may be temporarily unavailable during periods of routine maintenance. For your security, calls may be monitored or recorded.

Pay your bills

Using telephone banking, mobile, internet banking, Direct Debit or standing order.

Withdraw up to £350 cash per day

By debit card, 365 days of the year at any Yorkshire Bank ATM or ATM in the UK or abroad (charges may apply), subject to available funds. Additional charges may apply when using your card abroad.

£150 from us to you

Use the Current Account Switch Service to fully switch your account to us (including 2 Direct Debits), pay in at least £1000 each month for two months and activate online or mobile banking. T&Cs apply and offer ends 31/3/2016.

You can cancel your agreement with us within 14 days of opening your account by contacting us in branch, by phone or in writing. Please check terms and conditions for more information.


Readycash accounts cannot be applied for directly. If you apply for one of our other Current Accounts and you're not eligible, we'll let you know at the end of the application and offer you a Readycash account (if appropriate).

Protecting your money

Your eligible deposits with Clydesdale Bank PLC are protected up to a total of £75,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme.

This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with the following: Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank. Any total deposits you hold above the limit between these brands are unlikely to be covered.
