Current Account Direct

An interest paying current account

Current Account Direct gives you control of your finances, 24/7*. You can manage your money and carry out common transactions without having to visit a branch. You can still use our call centre or a Yorkshire Bank branch for services that aren't available online or over the phone – such as paying in cash and cheques. Applicants must be 18 years or over. You must register for automated telephone and/or internet banking services to operate your account. Check our self service matrix for details. Subject to status and eligibility. Minimum monthly deposit required.

No monthly account fee. Other fees and charges may apply.


2% AER** (1.98% gross p.a. variable) on your credit balances up to £3000

No interest 0% AER on balances over £3000.

A minimum monthly credit of £1000 (excluding internal transfers) is required. If you do not meet these conditions, we will change your account to Current Account Plus. You can have a maximum of two Current Account Direct accounts, of which only one may be a sole account.

**AER stands for Annual Equivalent Rate and illustrates what the interest rate would be if interest was paid and compounded once each year. Gross rate is the interest payable without taking account of the deduction of income tax.

Use the Current Account Switch Service to fully switch your account to us (including 2 Direct Debits), pay in at least £1000 each month for two months and activate online or mobile banking. T&Cs apply and offer ends 31/3/2016.

Protecting your money

Your eligible deposits with Clydesdale Bank PLC are protected up to a total of £75,000 by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme, the UK’s deposit guarantee scheme.

This limit is applied to the total of any deposits you have with the following: Clydesdale Bank and Yorkshire Bank. Any total deposits you hold above the limit between these brands are unlikely to be covered.
