Yorkshire Bank backs expanding childcare business

15th October 2012

Thirty jobs will be created after a Yorkshire childcare nursery business received multi-million pound backing from Yorkshire Bank to expand into a new purpose-built headquarters.

Kaleidoscope Day Nurseries Ltd is moving into a new headquarters in Drighlington, West Yorkshire, after gaining support from Yorkshire Bank's Leeds Business Banking Centre.

The new headquarters and training centre also incorporates a nursery for 116 children and an out-of-school club. The nursery will create 25 new jobs and the training centre a further five posts.

Kaleidoscope Day Nurseries was founded 22 years ago in Acomb, York by husband and wife team, Jane and Steven Middlebrook, and now has 150 full and part-time staff.

The relocation is the latest expansion by the business, and will see Kaleidoscope Day Nurseries move from its offices in Station Road, Morley, where the company had been for four years.

Managing director, Jane Middlebrook, a Nursery World Awards Trainer of the Year 2012 finalist, said: "We're pleased to be moving into purpose-designed premises where we can invest in our own future. The new nursery will enable us to take our services further west to support families in areas such as Cleckheaton, Dewsbury, Birkenshaw, Birstall and Batley. Our top priority now is to fill the new nursery and establish ourselves as a centre of excellence for childcare and childcare training across all our sites.

"This latest expansion is testament to our providing the very best in childcare. After 21 years, we know the childcare business and are passionate about the quality of the care we offer. Most of our customers are working parents and our services allow them to go to work with peace of mind that their child is being safely looked after in a stimulating and nurturing environment.

"Yorkshire Bank has always supported our expansion plans and the latest financial support has enabled us to create a building of the highest standard. We could not have realised our dreams of creating a new flagship building without them."

Kaleidoscope Day Nurseries runs six facilities across Morley, Gildersome, York City Centre and Acomb – all of which have been acquired with Yorkshire Bank support – caring for more than 600 children aged between three months to 11-years old. The company also runs four out-of-school clubs in North and West Yorkshire.

Yorkshire Bank Leeds Business Banking Centre business partner, Linda Binns, said:

"The tough economic climate means that many families, not just those where the parents are working, are under pressure. Yorkshire Bank is pleased to be continuing to support Kaleidoscope which is gaining recognition for the high-quality care it offers to a growing number of children and their parents."
