Airport transport firm continues to climb

Niche transport and logistics provider, Goldstar Heathrow, is driving a dynamic expansion programme thanks to a £1million funding facility from the Bank.

The package enabled Director, Charlie Fulk to buy out joint-owner Mark Bassil, as well as providing resources for the business to continue along its growth trajectory.

Company profile

Founded almost 16 years ago by Charlie and Mark, Goldstar Heathrow specialises in airfreight transport at Heathrow, Birmingham and Glasgow airports.

Revenue has grown from £9million in 2010/11 when it became a customer of the Bank, to its current level of £12million and is expected to reach £15million by 2015.

Earlier this year the business relocated its Heathrow head office to a new facility in Poyle, with a 10,000 sq ft, transit shed and a 2 acre yard for truck parking.

Goldstar Heathrow’s main marketplace differentiator is its ‘pay as you go’ or ‘variable rate’ model which allows its customers the ability to track their costs as their volumes move up and down.

The company has invested heavily in a fleet of more than 85 vehicles, ranging from small vans to 44-ton tractor units with trailers, as well as roller-bed, curtain-sided, refrigerated and box vehicles.
