Giving when it matters
On 1 February 2008 Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks joined forces to announce the launch of a brand new charity partnership initiative with Help the Hospices (opens in a new window). Help the Hospices is the leading charity supporting hospice care throughout the UK. Hospices aim to provide the best possible care for people living with life-limiting or terminal illnesses. Hospice care is provided free of charge to patients and tailored to their individual needs. The majority of hospice care in the UK is provided by Help the Hospices member hospices – local charities rooted in the communities they serve.
Helping where it matters
In just over two years together, we have raised over £1 million for hospice care. Employees have raised more than £500,000 and the Banks have match funded this pound for pound. The money raised will support 112 local hospices throughout the UK in their vital work.
However the partnership is about more than just funds raised, our employees have also provided over 8,000 volunteering hours for their local hospice.
Caring because it matters
Each year UK hospices care for over 100,000 people and their families. To provide this support, hospices need over £400 million just to keep going, making hospice care one of the UK’s largest community fundraising causes. This is why our help is essential.
